CURTAIN'S UP

May 16, 2010 - 2PM

Oregon State University Chamber Choir

The Oregon State University Chamber Choir has garnered national attention and international awards as the premier chorale ensemble at OSU under the direction of Dr. Steven Zielke. While touring Eastern Europe in 2001, the choir received the Grand Prize at the Festival of Light in Bulgaria. In April 2006, the choir was selected as the only collegiate mixed choir from outside the state of Utah to perform at the 60th National Music Educators Biennal Conferenc in Salt Lake City.

The choir has performed in many exciting venues around the world. The singers, who are music and non-music majors, all share a desire for expressive and artistic performances through performance of significant and meaningful choral music. In addition to the a cappella reptoire, the choir has performed chamber orchestra/choral literature, including Stravinsky's "Symphony of Psalms", Bernsteins "Chichester Psalms", Haydn's "Saint Theresian Messe", Bach's "Magnificat" and Orff's "Carmina Burana".

The choir has previously recorded sereval CD's including "Lux", "O Lovely Night", "A Holiday Celebration in Beaver Nation" and a new CD entitled "Locus Isle". We are sure that this final performance of our season will fill the Events Center with a wondrous sound!
